Kaki

The kaki is an energy-filled fruit, originally from China, rich in vitamin C and minerals. It looks a little like a fleshy tomato and is a pretty yellow-orange colour. It grows around the Mediterreanean basin. Also called a persimmon, the kaki tree is particularly described in traditional Chinese medicine: it is known for its many benefits. Kaki root and bark from the stem are used to stop bleeding; the leaves are used to treat the cold. The fruit is known to help treat a cough (depending on how ripe it is) and its calyx is a known remedy for the hiccups.
